De La Cruz Theater

Established in 2021

At De La Cruz Theater, our mission is to create thought-provoking and impactful theatrical experiences that resonate with audiences on a deeper level, keeping the arts alive in Miami. We firmly believe that theater has the unique power to inspire empathy, spark dialogue, and ignite social change. Our vision is to foster a vibrant and diverse community engaged in multidisciplinary theater, where artists and audiences alike come together to explore the human condition and celebrate our shared cultural heritage.

Miami Theater

Since our inception, De La Cruz Theater has rapidly become a vital component of Miami’s Hispanic Theater scene. Notably, our participation in Microtheater Miami has been particularly fruitful, with our team writing, producing, and directing over 20 impactful short plays. These endeavors have garnered us critical recognition, including the 2018 ACE Award for Best Actor in Musical Theater and the 2022 Thalia Award for Best Actor in a one-man show, both presented in New York City.

Exploring Culture

De La Cruz Theater is on the cusp of creation, having presented its first mainstage production last fall, “La Freddy de Cuba”. This play is part of an immersive series delving into the lives of Cuban female singers from the late 1950s, exploring their experiences during an era overshadowed by the Cuban Revolution. This series will celebrate these remarkable artists through one-act plays, accompanied by live performances of their music, fostering a connection between audiences and the rich cultural heritage of Cuban music.

Training Actors

Our commitment to fostering artistic growth extends to the heart of our community. We conduct acting workshops for adults, providing participants with a creative outlet to explore their talent and passion. These workshops also serve as a platform for nurturing emerging artists who then have the opportunity to engage in paid professional work through our mainstage productions.
